Steve Smith, who contribute in the team with his bat, has become a vital cog in the Australian line-up over the recent months after being a leg-spinner. The prolific run scorer who has contributed to his country side's success across the formats attributes his growth as a cricketer to the Indian Premier League.
His great run-scoring has been integral to Australia's success in recent times. Recently he was awarded the ODI and Test Player of the year awards and collected the Allan Border Medal at a ceremony in Sydeny, this shows the contribution of Steve Smith in Australian cricket team.
Smith give credits to the IPL, which helped him to improve his game and taught him to adapt the various situations.
"It's a great tournament to be involved in. I have to pay a lot of credit to the IPL for where I am today, particularly in one-day cricket," Smith said.
"Playing in that tournament you learn a lot about yourself because you are playing every second day. You get faced with a lot of similar situations and if you don't quite get the team over the line that day, you learn from it and face the same situation a couple of days later. I think it's a great learning experience for any young cricketer," Smith added.
The 25-year old cricketer who stood-in for Michael Clarke and lead Australia to win the series against India at their home will be looking forward to compete in the forthcoming season of IPL 2015.
